Handgun defense training can be of several types, and there are several different types of handgun classes. There are many types of handgun classes, ranging from the Bullets & Bandages I course to the Fundamentals of Tactical Handgun II course. Some classes offer Target ID training and Advanced Tactics. A good handgun defense training course will provide you with the necessary tools to protect yourself. Below are the types and levels of handgun classes.

Bullets & Bandages I

Bullets & Bandages classes at SIG Sauer Academy combine the two worlds, shooting and emergency care into one class. This class has the same logo and format as Dark Angel Medical Tactical Medicine. But it's different because it includes a live-fire component to the training. Bullets & Bandages a three-day course will teach participants how they can administer first aid while under fire in a real world situation.

In "Bullets & Bandages" the student will learn different kinds of gunshot wounds. He will be shown photographs of entry and exit wounds. He will also learn about blast injuries, stab wounds, fractures, and other torso problems. He will also cover the effects the bullet has on the lungs.

Fundamentals of Tactical Handgun II

The fundamentals of handgun shooting are the first step in becoming a certified firearms instructor. Fundamentals of Tactical Handgun - The first course teaches shooting and concealment using simulated ammo. This course includes power point instruction, target practice, and video clips to reinforce basic shooting skills. You can then enroll in Tactical Mindset after you have completed the Fundamentals course.


Tactical Pistol Fundamentals, a 2-day event that teaches fundamentals and firearm safety, is held in Vancouver. It focuses on shooting skills as well as practical applications for self defense. It also teaches students how to manipulate weapons in a confined space. It will also teach students how to protect their weapons from being damaged in an attack.

Class of ID targeted

The Target ID class, a comprehensive handgun defence training program, teaches students the skills needed to effectively respond to a situation of self-defense. The instructor will also demonstrate how to shoot through a windshield and at angles of less that one meter. You'll also learn how flashlights work and how you can keep your distance. You'll be confident in using the handgun in a variety situations and will have a good understanding of how to defend it.

Advanced Tactics training

The Advanced handgun defense training course, developed by Anthony M. Barrera, M.D., and instructed by John S. Farnam, is a comprehensive overview of several less-lethal tools. The instructors will teach you how to use platforms, verbal defense commands, and physical defense techniques. During this course, students will learn how to use multiple defense tools, including the handgun. There will be several opportunities for students to practice each of the skills they'll learn.

HITS #1 focuses on stress-movement handgun drills. Students will be tested on their ability to keep the gun running, perform a quick repair, and utilize appropriate cover. Students will also learn to safely draw a concealed gun using their hands from a duty bag. Participants should be in good physical condition, have their duty belt and holster in order to participate in the course. Students may bring a handgun and/or AR rifle to the class.
