The skeetfield has eight shooting stations and two trap houses. There is also a center target. Seven shooting stations are arranged in a half-moon between the two trap houses, and one is located directly between the two. The high house targets are thrown 10 feet above the ground and rise to 15 feet in the middle of the field. The low house targets leave a trap 3-1/2 feet above the ground and rise to 15 feet.

Skeet field structure

A skeet round is composed of 25 targets, which are shot from eight stations. There are seven targets on each side, and one at the base. The skeet field can be divided into two sections. The high and low houses correspond to the relative positions of target throwing machines. The high section is often called the "high house" and the lower one the "low house". The distance between the target and the starting point of a skeet round's shooting station is variable in terms of length, width, or height.

Skeet targets

There are eight shooting stations on the skeet field, as well as two trap houses and an elevated target. The traphouse on the left, known as the high, throws the clay target 10 feet from the ground. The high house does this at an upward angle. The low house throws clay from three feet higher than the high house. Ideal skeet fields should measure at least 80 feet in length and 40-five feet in width.

Skeet Target Sequences

Although the International Skeet field has the same dimensions as the American Skeet field, the targets are larger and can be thrown faster. The target is delayed between 0 and 3 seconds. Shooters must use a low gun point to hit the targets. Since 1968 the International Skeet became an Olympic sport. In addition to the traditional skeet field, there are many variations on the shooting sequences.

Skeet face-hugger choke

The image below shows the original circle that Skeets use to design their Skeets. While the original circle is still being used, the face-hugger must remain open for the desired effect. This choke isn't for beginners. This choke requires an upgraded cylinder choke. You can find more information at the link below.

To reach a skeet goal, lead is required

There are several methods that can be used to determine the required amount of lead to break a skeet. The first is called sustained lead, and involves keeping your muzzle pointed at a certain distance in front of the target while shooting. This method is best if the distance you intend to shoot at is known. This second method requires you to use a constant set of lead, but it is important to keep in mind that you will need additional lead for shooting at Skeet distances.

Keeping the gun moving after the shot

You should aim your finger at the gun's frame while practicing the art. The gun's lower portion is its frame. Therefore, your shooting finger should not be on the trigger as you prepare to fire it. It is important that you keep your thumb in line with the gun's frame. When you are ready to fire, wrap your index finger and thumb around the frame and press firmly.
